2014 Memphis Wedding Trends

2014weddingtrends

2014 is going to be a year to remember because all the trends of past seasons are REVERSING! Oh yes, ladies, this coming year you might want to reconsider that big, voluptuous dress and put the emphasis where it really counts…everywhere else!

All you need to remember this year is this simple phrase “heavy is heavenly.” Brides, give your decor some weight with succulent boutonnieres, lovely floral crowns, and maybe some geometric backdrops too. Navy and Neutrality will be a big part of the upcoming years color scheme, which means the real important colors will have an honest and refreshing candor.

Let’s talk about the dress. Open-back style has been gaining momentum and is now one of the most popular trends for 2014 Memphis weddings, and hair embellishments are going to be imperative as well. Some unique options brides will have to decide between next year will be: wrap or cape? The choice is yours, but remember which ever you choose you will undoubtedly be the centerpiece of your wedding simply by contrast. The heaviness of your decor when compared with the lightness of your dress will automatically make you a breath of fresh of air.

Wedding photography is always important no matter what year it is, but a trendy, little snap shot is becoming very suitable nowadays: The Bride and Her Best Friend. If you are one of those lucky brides who has had a best friend ever since grade school, then do yourself a favor and frame that friendship.

This leads us to the fellas. Now guys, you’re probably asking yourself: why does the bride get all the fun stuff? Well, next year is going to put every groom and his entourage on the spot. Say it with us: GROOMING. The average tux, collar, and button down aren’t going to cut it. Lads, you should be styled to reflect your lady’s vision and be consistent with the weddings theme. Oh, and throw on some colorful socks for good measure!

Toasting at the Tower Room

200

Event planning is never a dull day, especially wedding planning. One sees new designs, personalized details, and entertainment with each wedding that comes along. We had the pleasure of helping Scout and Victor plan their nuptials at The Tower Room this spring! A fun-loving, medical couple, the room was filled with hints of hospitals, and lots of doctors! Being from the middle east, Victor also brought fantastic traditions to their big day, including many fabulously-fun dances, a belly-dancer, Arak, and even a live stream of the wedding to Lebanon. There was a lot of love in the air, many Arabic “line-dancing”, lots of laughter, and fabulous ambiance. Guests had a hard time going home!

Congratulations to Scout and Victor! We wish you a lifetime of happiness, and if we ever need a trip to the hospital, we’re counting on you! 😉

Thank you very much to our fantastic vendors, who we couldn’t have made this day possible without! A big thank you to Kim with Ramblin’ Rose Photography for these just gorgeous shots!

Food, beverage, uplighting, and ambiance provided by The Tower  RoomA beautiful cake by Laura Jackson of The Flour Gardenfabulous florals by Eric and Greg of Garden Districtand rentals by Classic Party Rentals truly brought together Scout’s vision. Shane Dauberger with Perfection DJ’s  kept ALL those dancers entertained all night long. Noone wanted to stop dancing! Thank you to Amara from Amara Dance for the incredible belly dancing and many performances throughout the evening. It was our first belly-dancer and we were thrilled to be a part of it! A special shout out to Justin Croninger of Message in a Bottle Productions, who live-streamed the wedding ceremony and reception all the way to Lebanon so the brother of the groom wouldn’t miss a beat, all while also filming their wedding video! It’s those kinds of gestures that really bring a wedding to a special/sentimental place. A final big Thank You to all of the staff at CHEERS Event Planning. We work very hard, and we thank all of you for helping us work even harder!

2013 Wedding Trends!

As certified wedding planners, it is our job to make sure we are always up to date on the latest wedding trends! We are very excited about the upcoming trends and themes for 2013 and even predictions for 2014! While 2012 held some fabulous new trends, we are thrilled to see the return of elegant soirees, lounges, fun food ideas, and branding!

Out with Rustic-In with 20’s Glamour!

It is no secret that the “Rustic Wedding” was very popular last year and even into this year! Mason jars, burlap, barns, and DIY were among many popular items, however, 2013-14 has a new look to uphold! This year’s trends are seeming to show a 1920’s formal look and we are very excited!

The Return of Wedding Lounges!

Couples are getting creative this year with their decor, including the return of wedding lounges! What a great way to offer more seating, as well as fun seating for you guests! Instead of being “stuck at a table”, they are free to spend their time in the gorgeous lounge you have created. While the goal is to have people on the dance floor, there are often guests, such as family members, who enjoy taking it easy and a lounge is the perfect addition for them.

Out with Candy Bars- in with Creative Desserts!

We have loved the dessert/candy bars, however, we are also loving the new “sweet” trends to come! From individual cakes, to popcorn bars, to ice cream trucks, creativity is IN. Brides are showing us that the possibilities are endless and are using desserts as a way to showcase their sweet tooth! Yum.

Color, Color, Color!

Brides are using color! Whether or not it is in their shoes, in their bouquet, or in their linens, color is here for 2013! While many are still upholding the traditional white bouquets, many brides are using pops of color to express their theme or style! This is also being applied in their shoes, groom’s socks, and even in wedding decor! Color is a great way to brand you wedding and even showcase your favorite hues.

Food for Thought

Catering has skyrocketed in creativity over the past few years and continues on into the upcoming wedding trends! From mini-food, to food stations, to upscale displays, couples are getting very creative with the presentation of their food! Even late night snacks are coming back into trend! We are loving this because it is a fabulous way to set your wedding apart and show your creativity with food themes and flavors.

Jenny & Lee_391

We are very blessed and grateful to have an incredible network of vendors here in Memphis, Tennessee. Thank you so much for making the life of a wedding planner too much fun sometimes! We are so happy to share this fabulous wedding, shot by J. Malahy Photography.

This native Memphian couple wanted their wedding to showcase the many wonderful aspects of Memphis, as well as “The South” and a successful job they did! Jenny was very detail-oriented and framed photos detailing the couples lives together all over the venue. Her rustic elegance came through with the gorgeous florals, mason jars filled with tea, and classic southern touches including monogrammed napkins and chevron straws!

Many thanks to all of the vendors involved in this fabulous wedding. J. Malahy’s photography stuns and truly showcases the love between Jenny and Lee, as well as the fabulous time that all the guests clearly had. CFY Catering showcased southern flare in all their dishes including mini catfish and hush-puppies, as well as mint julep filled fruit skewers. The Memphis Botanical Gardens provided stunning landscape, a fabulous bar, as well as the indoor ballroom which hosted the reception. Garden District’s florals offered diversity using different arrangements for each bridesmaid, as well WOW-factor arrangements during the reception, AND at the rehearsal! Special thanks to Classic Party Rentals for all the fabulous linens and extras! Music by the Legendary Memphis Icebreakers kept guests on the dance floor literally the entire night and were a huge success!  A beautiful cake by The Flour Garden as well as a fabulous getaway car from Vintage Auto Rentals completed the night’s elegance!

And now for the photos! Enjoy!
