2014 Memphis Wedding Trends

2014weddingtrends

2014 is going to be a year to remember because all the trends of past seasons are REVERSING! Oh yes, ladies, this coming year you might want to reconsider that big, voluptuous dress and put the emphasis where it really counts…everywhere else!

All you need to remember this year is this simple phrase “heavy is heavenly.” Brides, give your decor some weight with succulent boutonnieres, lovely floral crowns, and maybe some geometric backdrops too. Navy and Neutrality will be a big part of the upcoming years color scheme, which means the real important colors will have an honest and refreshing candor.

Let’s talk about the dress. Open-back style has been gaining momentum and is now one of the most popular trends for 2014 Memphis weddings, and hair embellishments are going to be imperative as well. Some unique options brides will have to decide between next year will be: wrap or cape? The choice is yours, but remember which ever you choose you will undoubtedly be the centerpiece of your wedding simply by contrast. The heaviness of your decor when compared with the lightness of your dress will automatically make you a breath of fresh of air.

Wedding photography is always important no matter what year it is, but a trendy, little snap shot is becoming very suitable nowadays: The Bride and Her Best Friend. If you are one of those lucky brides who has had a best friend ever since grade school, then do yourself a favor and frame that friendship.

This leads us to the fellas. Now guys, you’re probably asking yourself: why does the bride get all the fun stuff? Well, next year is going to put every groom and his entourage on the spot. Say it with us: GROOMING. The average tux, collar, and button down aren’t going to cut it. Lads, you should be styled to reflect your lady’s vision and be consistent with the weddings theme. Oh, and throw on some colorful socks for good measure!

Perfection at The Peabody

DSC_4755-Edit-2

Lindsay and Brad were just perfection. The nicest couple, and so wonderful to work with. We had a blast helping them plan their big day, and I must say, Lindsay is kind, organized, and truly down to earth, which was just perfect for the planning process. Lindsay’s vision had originally included a ceremony at The Botanic Gardens, which alas, was rained out, so her whole day took place at The Peabody Hotel, which turned out beautifully. The involved vendors were able to come together and execute the rain plan beautifully, and once the rain cleared, the sky was glowing-which created fabulous photo opportunities!!

Many many Thank You’s to our involved vendors for making this day possible, and for making the rain plan a smooth transition! A big thank you to Maryrose Brame Photography for the lovely photos- which were featured in this month’s The Pink Bride MagazineYou can see that article here: Lindsay and Brad.

Holliday Flowers created Lindsay’s exact vision, and re-created an outdoor setting inside the Peabody to tie in the outdoor look of Botanic Gardens. If that’s not commitment to your job and clients, I don’t know what is!  Music from Innocenti Strings paired beautifully with Lindsay’s traditional ceremony-officiated by Paul White of Ministers in a MinuteWe couldn’t have had ceremony sound without Tommy of Dingo Entertainment, who also re-routed to The Peabody. Front and Beale killed it during the reception and kept the crowd dancing all night! They were a band full of true personality, who really interacted with the crowd, and kept everything very personal. Thank you to Whimsy Cookie Company for the sweet Whimsy Bites- a great idea for guest favors! As always, a big thank you to all of our staff at Cheers Event Planning. Without you, we couldn’t implement all of our hard work!

Now for everyone’s favorite- the photos! Enjoy!

Fabulous Florals

Did you know flowers are one of the earliest traditions when it comes to Weddings?

It is first recorded that flowers were used at weddings in Ancient Greece. Plants and Flowers were assorted together to form wreath that would be worn on their heads. Although most people have strayed away from wedding wreaths, flowers are still a big part of Wedding tradition and are used in the majority of the modern-day Wedding. Cheers not only keeps up with this tradition, but actually does our own floral arrangements!  Scroll down to see some of the beautiful floral arrangements that we have done in the past.

A Little Chiavari History

ctzb1b

The Chiavari Chair has proven to be one, if not the most popular chair for weddings and special events! Many assume it was simply created for weddings, but the rich history behind these chairs would surprise you. Originally created in 1807 by a cabinetmaker from Chiavari, Italy, the chair was re-structured, simplified, and lightened from an original French Empire chair.

The chairs became an instant success, and began immediately appearing  in surrounding towns of Chiavari, and eventually were  mass consumed by Napoleon, King Charles of Sardinia, and many more. Over time, the original version decreased due to other manufacturers in Austria, and another Italian architect, Gio Ponti creating an even simpler and lighter version. This happened over time, with the most recent version of the chair appearing in 1955.

Originally, the colors ranged in the natural woods  from fruitwood to beech, however, today the colors are endless. They have been, and still are incredibly popular for event planners, who enjoy the elegant style for decor, and lighter feel for labor.  Today, with all the color options, one can put together events of all themes, while maintaining sleek and elegance.

Now, please enjoy the DIVERSITY, and “fabulous-ness” of this party chair!

Traditional Wedding Flowers? …OR….

Pink-Peony-Bouquet-with-Peach-Ribbon-500x332

Not that into flowers? Are you looking for something different? Tired of the same types of arrangements and bouquets?

This blog post is for YOU!

As wedding planners, it is our job to keep up with the latest trends, as well as generate creativity and originality in each of our events. Not all of our clients look for flowers when it comes to decor, and many are always searching for something creative and different. While doing some research for next season’s wedding trends, we discovered many non-floral centerpiece and bouquet ideas! The possibilities are seeming endless, and brides are showcasing their originality by straying away from the traditions of “classic wedding flowers.”

Toasting at the Tower Room

200

Event planning is never a dull day, especially wedding planning. One sees new designs, personalized details, and entertainment with each wedding that comes along. We had the pleasure of helping Scout and Victor plan their nuptials at The Tower Room this spring! A fun-loving, medical couple, the room was filled with hints of hospitals, and lots of doctors! Being from the middle east, Victor also brought fantastic traditions to their big day, including many fabulously-fun dances, a belly-dancer, Arak, and even a live stream of the wedding to Lebanon. There was a lot of love in the air, many Arabic “line-dancing”, lots of laughter, and fabulous ambiance. Guests had a hard time going home!

Congratulations to Scout and Victor! We wish you a lifetime of happiness, and if we ever need a trip to the hospital, we’re counting on you! 😉

Thank you very much to our fantastic vendors, who we couldn’t have made this day possible without! A big thank you to Kim with Ramblin’ Rose Photography for these just gorgeous shots!

Food, beverage, uplighting, and ambiance provided by The Tower  RoomA beautiful cake by Laura Jackson of The Flour Gardenfabulous florals by Eric and Greg of Garden Districtand rentals by Classic Party Rentals truly brought together Scout’s vision. Shane Dauberger with Perfection DJ’s  kept ALL those dancers entertained all night long. Noone wanted to stop dancing! Thank you to Amara from Amara Dance for the incredible belly dancing and many performances throughout the evening. It was our first belly-dancer and we were thrilled to be a part of it! A special shout out to Justin Croninger of Message in a Bottle Productions, who live-streamed the wedding ceremony and reception all the way to Lebanon so the brother of the groom wouldn’t miss a beat, all while also filming their wedding video! It’s those kinds of gestures that really bring a wedding to a special/sentimental place. A final big Thank You to all of the staff at CHEERS Event Planning. We work very hard, and we thank all of you for helping us work even harder!

Andrea and Andy. What a treat your wedding was!  Cheers to our fabulous Star Wars couple- hence, their wedding date, May 4th.

A big thank you to Nathan Rye Photography for these gorgeous photos. What a job well done- and check out those colors and that clarity on the cake! We worked with the couple, and their families for a year and a half to perfect their special day! Andy (and Andrea) are big into Star Wars, and much to her mother’s chagrin, they were able to incorporate a few subtle hints into the reception! Entering to the Imperial March, and pulling a light saber instead of a garter were some of our personal favorites! A truly in love couple, you guys were a hoot!

As always, a huge thank you to our vendors!! We couldn’t have done it without you!

Love at Lichterman

481972_233467126793292_49336770_n

What a night! True Love at Lichterman. What a crowd! Alanna and Steven had a FLOCK of friends and family come down for their big day! And what a fun flock it was. There was so much love at this wedding, and so many very excited guests! We had such a great time planning with Alanna, she is so detail oriented BUT easy going so it was a joy to hear all about her ideas and vision! Each piece of her wedding was hand-crafted, as she is a crafting queen! From hand-made centerpieces, to embossed napkins, to biodegradable and bedazzled utensil kits, this wedding had it all. Branding was key here and it showed within all of her carefully thought out elements! Thank you to all of our fabulous vendors! Memphis Theological Seminary and Lichterman Nature Center provided ceremony and reception venues, while all decor was provided by the bride. Chair and linen rentals by Party Connection, a gorgeous and colorful cake by Cakes by Carolyn, and fabulous food including a shrimp and grits bar by Me and My Tea Room Catering. Entertainment by DJ Beezy, and bar-tending by friends completed the night. I never once saw an empty dance floor. In fact, I have never seen SO many people dance for such a long period of time. I would say it was a genuine success!!

A huge thank you to Shelby of SW Productions for the fabulous photos! SW Productions provides photography AND videography, so go check them out for your next event!

Backyard “I DOs”!!

546103_610964358932283_70477742_n

Krissa and Nick were such a FABULOUS couple. So down to earth and so loving, both with incredible families full of  incredible emotion. We are so blessed to have been a part of this amazing day, and are so happy to see what a success it was! They had been planning for a week when they gave us a call, and 4 weeks after that, they said I DO. Nick is finishing training to become in the Air Force and is now stationed in Florida. Instead of waiting until next year, or even the year after that, the two childhood sweethearts (who grew up next door to each other!!) decided the sooner the better! What a GREAT choice they made! The wedding came together beautifully and reflected the exact feel they were going for; a down to earth backyard affair full of family, friends, and a grand ole time. Fun was had by ALL. We can’t thank our vendors enough. Kelly Ginn Photography captured this couple perfectly, and what great sunset shots! The bride’s home and family land (they have lots of horses and many amazing animals-all very relaxed just like their owners) created a stunning backdrop for the entire day! Arlington Floral created centerpieces of wildflowers, and bouquets of wheat and lavender to reflect the theme of the evening, in all shades of purple- Krissa’s favorite! All American Sweets provided sweet treats including a groom’s cake reflecting the main focus in Nick’s life (other than Krissa, of course) and a beautiful cake fit for a beautiful bride! Catering by Me and My Tea Room complimented the feel of the wedding as well as provided bar tending for the entire event! David Eubanks provided the ceremony and reception music, as well as entertainment, lights, and MC duties and kept guests on the dance floor ALL night. A big thank you to Mahaffey Tent and Party Rentals for the great tent, pipe and drape, lighting, tables, chairs, and decor! A job very well done by ALL.

And now for the photos of these sweet people and their very fun friends! Thanks again to Kelly and John at Kelly Ginn Photography!

Enjoy and Happy Planning!
